Good Samaritans PDF Print E-mail

The Good Samaritans Food Program was started by our dedicated and caring Fr. Bartz in 1983 to help low income people of the Akron area.

We provide supplemental groceries each month to more than 240 people.  Recipients must meet specific income guidelines, which are required by the Akron-Canton Regional Food bank (from which we purchase most of our food, at a fraction of the usual market cost).  Food distribution occurs on the second Wednesday of each month, with a large amount of set-up taking place the preceding evening.  We invite you to become a Good Samaritans volunteer.  Our volunteers assemble boxes and bags of food, and help with the distribution to the families.  Following the distribution, the volunteers join in a pot luck luncheon.
